There are twelve houses in a horoscope: Tanu, Dhanu, Suhrida, Sukha, Suta, Ari, Jaya, Aayu, Dharm, Karm, Income, and Expenditure. The numeral corresponding to the lagna in a horoscope is regarded as the first house. The indicators of each of the twelve houses are as follows: 1. First house (tanu): Pleasure-pain, form, signs, wisdom, pleasantness, features, nature, mental abilities, etc. 2. Second house: Family traditions, nose, ears, eyes, beauty, music, happiness in love, enjoyments,speaking truth, accumulation of materials, buying and selling, etc. 3. Third house: Singing, practice of yoga, dancing, brotherly, strength, servility, courage, age, bravery, composure, breathing, etc. 4. Fourth house: Comfort from parents’ side, home, village, vehicle, mental peace, wealth, friends, stomach problems, benevolence, welfare of others, deceit, cheating, treasure, etc. 5. Fifth house: Education, progeny, humbleness, ethics, worship of gods, sudden attainment of wealth, happiness from mother’s side, uterus, fame from one’s dexterity and urine bladder, etc. 6. Sixth house: Worry, doubts, disease, pain, fame, maternal uncle’s situation, friend, foe, and organs of elimination, etc. 7. Seventh house: Pain and worry in one’s love life, woman, death, business, hemorrhoids, happiness in marriage, etc. 8. Eighth house: Life, death, age, disease, diseases of the sex organs, etc. 9. Ninth house: Beginning of good fortune, foreign residence for religious purpose, happiness from father’s side, donations, charitable deeds, pilgrimage, etc. 10. Tenth house: Employment, father, lordship, kingdom, honor, glory, leadership, enjoyment of pleasures, etc. 11. Eleventh house: Ownership of vehicles, elephants, horses, jewels, income, etc. 12. Twelfth house: Expenditure, losses, donations, disease, addiction, etc. 1. Predictions of marriage time: a. When Jupiter in gochara (transit) in 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th places. b. Dasha (period) and antara-dasha (sub-period) of lords of seventh, fifth and eleventh houses. c. Maha-dasha (prime period) of either Venus or the moon is dominant. 2. Direction of marriage: The one where the lord of the seventh house from Venus is located. 3.Good luck in marriage: When Venus or the Lord of the seventh house is in 3rd, 6th, 7th, 10th or 11th places the good luck will be after marriage. 4. About off-springs: One is blessed with progeny when Ketu is present in mesh, vrish and kark rasheis from lagna to the fifth house. One can be childless when either the moon or the lord of the third is in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th or 10th places.
